Often times it is when people are at rock bottom that they begin to learn what self love truly feels like for in being grateful for this situation or circumstance that you do not prefer, you begin to understand that no amount of having this or that will make you feel better about yourself. You will feel better when you give yourself that self love. Do you see this? Your love for self isn’t conditioned on some situation or circumstance happening, it is constant no matter what is happening in your life. This is what self love looks like.

[W]e want to reiterate what you learn during a dark night of the soul experience and that is you learn who you truly are and develop compassion for who you truly are. In developing compassion for yourself, you begin to see your oneness amongst everyone else. You will cease to see victims and perpetrators, rather, you will see individualized humanity having difficulty in seeing the divinity in the other. Fundamentally, that is what you are being called to do in a dark night of the soul. Whatever your experience, however difficult it may be for you, you are being called to see the divinity in yourself, the divinity in your perceived imperfections, the divinity in your perceived mistakes, the divinity in your perceived challenges, and so on and so on.

Why is abandonment the root cause of the need to believe in societal hierarchy? It is in being abandoned, foremost, that you begin to relegate yourself to conditional love. This is an important point and it is a very nuanced one. The need to climb is painful because it is, on the inner, you relegating yourself to conditional love. I will be okay when ______. No, you are okay now, as you are. I will be beautiful when I lose 20 lbs. No, you are beautiful now. I will be successful when I finish my degree. No, if you believe in yourself now, you will be successful now. If you do not believe in yourself now, no amount of earning degrees will assist you in believing in yourself.

What we are pointing you to is to become aware of what drives the personality. Is what drives the personality inspiration? Or is what drives the personality motivation? What is the difference? When you are inspired, you do simply because you must and you must because being in joy in not negotiable to you. When you are motivated, you do because you must and you must because it is better than some alternative. Do you see the difference?
